Our Story
Early Beginnings
Ferd Schupbach founded the business in 1946. Calvin Schupbach joined in 1948 and took over ownership after Ferd's departure. For nearly two decades, Calvin managed the business as Western Tire & Auto.
Growth Through Generations
David Schupbach began working at the store in 1955, starting what would become a 70-year+ career. David's decision to sell firearms marked a turning point—the first few guns displayed sold out within two weeks. When three more firearms sold just as quickly, the family recognized an opportunity to meet community needs.
Expanding Our Vision
In 1972, we purchased our current location at 141 W Pearl Street, initially operating as both automotive and firearms. By 1983, we had transitioned to a dedicated gun store based on customer demand. In 1987, Bryan introduced archery to our offerings and established the archery range upstairs. This addition led to expansion into the neighboring building, creating the sporting goods store that exists today.
